It isn't you I'd worry about. Besides, I don't think I can recall a time when you weren't polite, or, at least, respectful. Your politeness is disarming.

The point is; if someone knows you're armed, they will, in most cases, be polite. -
I rarely have anyone not treat me polite. I know they are not armed.
Being armed is no guarantee on how someone will treat someone. It is like saying that an armed person will be responsible for any and all shootings.
Each case is separate, based on an individuals reaction and attitude. Most of these cannot be predicted.Joetro Thanks this. -
Valid points. However; if someone sees the need to be impolite to me in a manner that could cause me to be dead, I prefer to at least have a chance to counter it.

To each their own.

When I'm in a remote area, sometimes I have this strange fear that someone will drive by and fire a few rounds into the bunk just for the fun of it.

There's a lot of meth heads in this world who don't act quite normal, provoked or not.
I suppose the upside is that in an out of the way place, beating them to a pulp with a tire iron is a lot easier. -
you've hit the nail on the head. Dopers and even the modern criminal has no remorse, conscience or empathy. I see no reason not to be polite either. Up to the point where I knock you senseless, because politeman wasn't being heard.
I suppose tho, since I started this thread on nonballistics, that etiquette is to be considered a form of nonlethal defense.
"Please, kind sir, might you refrain from continuance in this matter of bludgeoning my person?"GAPrincess Thanks this. -
well, since you asked so nicely, ok I will stop invading your personal space with my ball-bat.
oh my, look at the time !!! dang it all, I'm late. I'm supposed to be up the road in a remote area, popping a few rounds into the bunk of a guys sleeper just for the fun of it...

I recently read a post where someone referenced shooting sporting clays, and also used the term "blowing them out of the water" both, in a joking joking way, meaning to expose a post as having false, or misleading info. His post was deleted due to complaints that it was perceived as threatening.
"Popping rounds into a sleeper bunk" ????? !!!!!!!!!!
