Yeah that's the nice thing about being a company driver that doesn't get paid percentage. I don't have to worry about what the load pays. If the boss man tells me to run it, I runs it! I had to think too much about cost and cost/benefit analysis back when I was building networks. Glad to have a break from that for awhile.

Here’s my PSA for the day. Just found an alternator bracket bolt backed all the way out. The only thing that kept it from falling out was the right side radiator strut. I keep a simple set of tools on my truck, combo wrenches up to 3/4” and 3/8” socket set, so it was no problem to fix.
I do a fast pretrip everyday of course but once a week, I spend an hour going over the truck/trailer. I even crawl under the truck with my flashlight. In substitute for a creeper, I took 5 of the rubber mats that rollstock is placed on and cleaned them up. Don’t wanna be laying in trucker bombs gone bad.
So in addition to @Steelersjunkie ”check your pins”, spend an hour per week on top of your daily pretrip. It can save you some downtime.

 

It's funny you mentioned those friction mats. I have been meaning to ask y'all if there's any creative uses for them. Seems wasteful to just throw them away.

 

Does Millis provide any uniforms or accessories?

Not provide unless you went through Millis school. Nice polo type shirts, hoodies, sweAtshirt and jackets for about half price.

Somebody can chime in and tell you if this applies to people other than school graduates or not, but after you finish school and orientation you will be given your choice of 5 shirts from whatever your school terminal has available. After your 1 year anniversary you will be given the opportunity to buy 5 more shirts at half price.
