I've gotten to the point I rarely try to help...every so often I get frustrated enough listening to the barrage of questions I'll respond but it's usually ignored. I've learned most of them don't want to help themselves. ...they want all the answers and get off your butt and go talk to the people you want to haul for isn't what they want to hear.
Probably a reason grumpy old men is one of my favorite movies ....my temper gets shorter every year. I'm sure before long I'll end up on utube in my boxers chasing varmits outa my yard with a hot shot....
I'm just hoping me and heavy don't end up in the same home....

My last truck was a 387, and while there was a lot of things I didn't like about it, getting from the seat to the sleeper spoiled me. I had to rule out the small hole sleepers and non-ultra cabs because I just knew I'd regret it. When I moved into my first mid roof FLD it felt so spacious. I don't know how I did it all of those years in the little flat tops, but I'm not quite nostalgic enough to want to go back haha.cke, BigBob410, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 14 others Thank this.

That's gonna depend on how much "Tylenol" I've had.....lolcke, BigBob410, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 16 others Thank this.

Jameson and Budweiser, Idk this guy is gonna need Jenny Craig by the time I heal up. Sitting around getting fat isn't my normal. Feel rather useless. Neck is better, still hurts but my shoulder socket and under shoulder blade is killing. Plus the numbness in right arm is annoying. When MRI time Wednesday. We will find out. Just cant do much or very long.cke, BigBob410, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 18 others Thank this. -

You will have to consider the cost of college being grotesque and unreasonable versus potential gains from same. The colleges have become bloated on the 1.4 trillion owed by 44 million students (We paid off 46000 clear over 10 years, for a failed 4 year degree, not worth the paper it's on and a partial two year for me which learned me a few things, but taught me what not to do and I got out before I got really stupid in debt) we sold our house to pay that bill. Which is really a step down from where we were with it. So you can imagine why our view of college is more of a predatory group of parasites than anything else. And many of the students who owe the money cannot get free. (And will not, they will lose social security until the bill is paid, that will be years in some cases)
Spouse was a vet, GI bill pitched in for part of her schooling both trucking and college. However the portion we owed was quite a bit. 36000 for her and 10,000 for me in total when its all said and done at 8%. (It was 4, but they kept increasing it.) Arkansas actually paid 18 months worth of my college until I told them I'll take on the rest because I dont know how much more I will stay in college at that time. (Workforce rehabilitation) they wrote me off after I became blind in 2009 which was a really important year.
Trucking is not a career. It is a life journey that only a small percentage of a population of a country can do well. Provided they carefully manage the expenses, build savings on every load, no matter how small, and are able to endure the feast and famine of a pay system dating to the 1938 year with no overtime pay. (Specifically excluded with a 70 hour week imposed on workers in the industry to boot back that year) who in their right mind will run twice the hours of a full timer with half the income on a good week? Or nothing at all on a really bad one.
Subject to be fired for rubbing a pole or scratching your equiptment at any time?
