I left a comment below the article . Anybody else care to show how ignorant Karrow is ?
-
Very nicely stated! Its amazing how ignorant the general public and our lovely law makers are about the reality of trucking.
Hopefully someone reads your response and wakes up!!! -
I don't think that NJ passing such a law would pass Constitutional Muster.
Commerce Clause of the 15th amendment violation. -
I read that. So why didn't some research get done, before the bill was introduced? Typical case of someones head being up their you know what.
-
Thanks . It's really disturbing that many bills regulating truckers are based on paranoia and ignorance . People like Karrow just throw something out there without any facts or data to support it and people that have been intimidated by speeding and tailgating trucks rally to support them . Then you have idiots that fall asleep and kill somebody after major HOS violations and that helps gain the anti-truckers more support .

Yup, I agree. I researched the causation study that was done in Michigan, and the statistics ultimately pointed to the 4 wheeler and other outside forces. But, as you stated, one driver does this, and the whole world rally's to hang them all.
I've refuted the truck safety organizations statistics that they 'sport' on their site, numerous times with direct quotes from the causation study done in Michigan. They could care less that they are spouting inaccurate statistics on their web site and essentially vilifying the American trucker.
AND the media loves to quote those statistics.

NO doubt......
Real story: 4 wheeler impatient from heavy traffic takes opportunity to get into a trucker's space cushion to try and pass other vehicles...and does so at a 45 degree angle. The cars ahead stop suddenly and 4 wheeler panics and slams on brakes just as they enter the space cushion. The driver takes evasive action but the corner of his bumper taps the 4-Wheeler's car and scratches paint on the fender of the 4-wheeler's car.
Media Report: INATTENTIVE TRUCK DRIVER CAUSES MAJOR ACCIDENT AND TIE-UP ON INTERSTATE.....
elharrison Thanks this. -
Ain't that the truth!!!

Yeah , like OOIDA says , ATA is all smoke and mirrors . They skew statistics by saying things like in 20% of accidents where speed was a factor the speed was over 68 m.p.h. . But excessive speed is only a factor in 8% of accidents . 20% of 8% isn't that impressive . But that's only part of it . Experts know there are multiple factors in an accident . Consider these scenarios if a driver has his cruise control set at 69 m.p.h. in a 65 m.p.h. zone . He could fall asleep at the wheel , suffer a stroke , weave while picking up something he dropped , even be DWI . Would these accidents still have occured at a lower speed ?
Working Class Patriot Thanks this.
