It’s based on whatever the group determines will benefit them the most. Obviously they can’t be part of the Rocket Scientists Union. But it serves them to be part of a larger collective. And the Grocers Union is large.
It’s a grocers and commercial workers union. Not just grocers.![]()

Not true . I work at a non union LTL that hasn’t laid off a single driver in 15 years and I pay nothing for health insurance .Mike2633, BigDog Trucker, Coover and 1 other person Thank this.

What is the Question? Whether Trucking Unions are different? Teamster seniority stays with the Worker despite working for different Companies. Because Companies pay into the Health and Welfare fund to pay pension and benefits. Which are set and negotiated by Teamsters with Insurance Companies. As opposed to a Company pension such as Overnite had when UPS bought them. ( mainly to raid the pension fund ) Or so I’ve been told by Overnite/ UPS Freight Drivers.

Anyone want to mention the pay cut the pensions took after membership decided the retirees didn't need it?
Mike2633, Coover, Dave_in_AZ and 2 others Thank this. -
One of the benefits of Michigan going Right to Work. My initiation dues when I started last February were $40. Older guys there were saying it was as high as $400 that they paid. I guess now there is a choice the Teamsters are not screwing new guys.Mike2633, BigDog Trucker, MidWest_MacDaddy and 1 other person Thank this.

I’d like to hear what has happened since. I’ve been told they’re restoring some of the cuts.Dont like to see anyone get ripped off in any situation. I can honestly say if given a choice I’d still take a Union Job over Non Union, Unless the pay was better. I work for money not promises as they are always broken.
