Putin says Russia must control rap music to avoid 'degradation of the nation'

Well, his exact quote was about drugs leading to the degradation of the nation.

"Rap and other modern [forms of art] are rested upon three pillars - sex, drugs and protest," he said. "I am most worried about drugs. This is the way towards the degradation of a nation."

He's not wrong.

 

The 1st Amendment says you have a right to have a political opinion without fear of being arrested, not to promote degradation of society. Unfortunately, we have judges that say otherwise.

 

What you see as degradation I might see as uplifting. That's exactly why the 1st was, well the very 1st one of the ammements.

 

I'm not sure that RUSSIA has freedom of speech.
