Back in my college days several of us had cb's and ran on channel 33. I was headed to the library and right as I parked, Party Crowd by David Lee Murhpy came on. No one was on the cb, so I turned on the box and proceeded to sing the song.
Couple hours later I leave and meet my friend who's handle was Weedeater. He had an F100 with a Cobra 25 and a steel whip. He said "shogun, got it on?" Yeah go ahead. "Were you singing party crowd on here earlier?' Yeah I was, why didn't you holler at me?
"Well, I couldn't." How come? "I was taking my exam in the lab with about 100 people when you came over the intercom singing." Really, how did I sound? "You sounded good, we stopped taking the test while you sang. Some people sang with you."Lol
It apparently made the professor mad, so we found out his teaching schedule and would go talk thru his intercom calling his name and spouting science facts. Everyone would laugh and he'd yell 'I know yall know who's doing that!'
He's still there, I think I'm gonna swing by sometime and relive old memories.
Where is everyone #5

The first time I delivered to Sunlight Supply I was in one of our 256" wheelbase hoods with a 48' box trailer. I walked in from the street and the conversation went like this;
"That looks pretty tight getting into that door"
"We get you guy in here all the time"
"Yeah, but I got a 48' trailer, almost all of ours are 45'"
"We get 53's in that door every day"
After 30 minutes of oozing sweat and profanity I got it in the door. As I'm sitting there cooling off, here comes a guy with a 53', which he proceeds to grease into the door next to me on about 3 pull ups. With his 2 axle day cab.
And yes, we are in there all the time..................with curtain vans that unload from the side, in the yard, without having to back into the dock.Last edited: Dec 18, 2018

Folks like that prove everyday that handicap, or whatever they're calling it these days, it's just a word there are no limits to what you can do if you put your mind to it. This is why I can't stand whiners and people who make excuses for everything.
Nice story Shooter and good for you for finishing it also.peterbilt_2005, cke, johndeere4020 and 19 others Thank this. -

Yea, So one time Im to tow tractor trailer down of the pike to a repair shop that I had never been too. Driven by a few time but never into. I have the thought oh that place is small. Unless they have a big yard out back, but I call ahead. "Hey towing in a tractor trailer per customer request, do you have room for me to pull in and get out"? Sure they come in her all the time. "Oh ok, Im 310" wheel base plus 5 foot on wheel lift, plus a volvo and 53' reefer. "Oh XYZ towing comes in all the time". Hear we go in the dark. I started to swing in to this junk Hole and realize this is it. No drive around back. This pathetic junk packed lot is it. Well back out on to state rt and sit. Had to break it up in the road. Their 1940 steam powered spotter gets the trailer. We then had to pull the mailbox and post for me to make a left turn into this place. I had to ask, Say sir you told me "no problem getting in XYZ does it". Oh they never bring a trailer. I said I told you I had a trailer! Specifically because I could have dropped this 100 miles ago, but I was trying to help driver not have to back track! I threw the mailbox and post like Heman across the yard and watched as the mail floated in the crisp moonlit night. Never went back, nor did I recommend anyone getting work there if they leave out little details.

In this case I have dealt with this person in many loads. I have a BOL from Cat showing weights and dimensions,
I priced it from that document. Problem is I believe CAT agreed to the rate with the intention of switching from torn down to dressed.peterbilt_2005, cke, Feedman and 15 others Thank this. -
You're not too far from me.

Yeah, but both sidewalk lanes were open, right? LOL
Reminds me of my first ever trip to NYC (haven't needed to do it in a big truck so far). A coworker who lived nearby in NJ says why don't you reschedule your flight home till tomorrow, keep the car, and come pick me up I'll show you NYC. Young and dumb I said "yes" of course. It was the best time ever, we were all over the place all night long. As we're driving in, he briefs me on the NYC rules of the road:
1. Never park in front of a hydrant
2. Never violate a crosswalk
3. Never gridlock
4. Anything else is ok.
It only took minutes to figure out nobody blinked when making lefts from the right lane, rights from the left lane, sidewalk, didn't matter. Long as you're not in their way and didn't kill anyone, you blended right in.cke, Feedman, johndeere4020 and 15 others Thank this. -
Yes sir.cke, johndeere4020, stwik and 11 others Thank this.
