I can't answer for the states that you are running in, but where I run you do not need to specifically show them your permits if they don't call you in.....just make sure you have them.

If their open you stop regardless of what your prepass/drivewyze says. Scales will have directions via signage.

“IF YOURE HAULING OVERSIZED YOU GO INTO THAT SCALE IF ITS OPEN NO MATTER WHAT”
According to one of my buddies with tenor a few years back they had a group of 4-5 drivers come outta Virginia SB on I81 into TN pulling some sort of metal sheets. Not too wide, by any means, every driver blew the coup in Greenville, TN... they all got the by-pass according to the Prepass system. The officers were less than thrilled.
I know for a fact TN will ask to see your permits. Unless you’re lucky and there’s a bigger and badder load going through at the same time...
Most scales will have some sort of directions “all permit loads use right lane” or “all loads over 10’ wide stay right” or something similar. In my brief experience if it asks you to park a DOT officer will come out and see ya. But I have no experience in the OD world compared to the majority on here so Stwik will be quiet now
