    At $15.50 an hour that's about $30,000 a year plus benefits. It's the benefits that make the job worthwhile.

    And being in a school district, I would think it's fairly secure. Public schools don't generally have many lay-offs.

    As for the union question, it very may well be a union job. The custodians in our district are union. I believe they are Teamsters, the same as my husband who is a tradesman in the maintenance department.
