I am not really placing blame on the republicans as you seem to think.

Nafta was agreed to by Bush in December 1992. In November 1993, the House approved it with 132 Republicans and 102 Democrats voting for it. This shows support of the treaty by both parties. Amazingly, the Republicans far out voted the Democrats for a majority vote during the period. It was a Democrat congress, but the point was the Republican majority of the passing vote. I guess you can dispute that FACT if you want.

I am not a supporter of NAFTA. I never thought they should have ratified the treaty. Surprisingly, Clinton followed through with it.

I place equal blame on each party if you look at the posts.

I hope you are right. NAFTA has not been a good idea.

It would have been a pretty simple thing, originally, to require Mexican trucks to abide by the same US DOT standards as our own trucks. Require them to maintain log books, pre-trips and being responsible for their trucks being in good repair at tall times. Keep the fiel level. Personally, i seed no need for them or us to travel in each other's countries anyway. just swap the goods at the crossings and be done with it as trade still goes on.
