Linehaul hours?

does it really matter, when he's asking sleep patterns and getting back to work after 10 hours???

most line haulers that do layovers (at least from my experience) do not start again right after the 10 hour break, but at the next shift, at night again...this is because they have to wait for the P&D drivers to return with the freight they picked up during the day, and also many times, a line haul driver, gives up his truck to the P&D guys, like at my former employer.

 

There is option to do layovers for longer run to anyone who prefers to be gone all week, sleeping in truck and eating out of cooler or whatever for the same money I earn coming home daily
I assume they have miserable home life to take those runs

 

it wasn't until long after i left that employer, that even the top guys were told to "pack a bag"....believe me, i had my fill of overnighters, layovers, weekly being gone, at other various jobs, ....to me, that's not a life i ever wanted.

but i did it, if only to garner my experience and then move onto another employer (like i am at again now), and home daily.


once i had found a regular daily job, i never looked back, which is why i have been "dedicated" for at least 30 years (or so) now...

 

When I layover it’s in a hotel and I’m back the next morning . Don’t know where you get the gone all week and sleeping in the truck from

 

at the LTL company i had done linehaul for, they had sleeper trucks and yes, we did have a guy that stayed out all week. the truck was assigned to him, so no one could touch it.

but many of the other linehaul guys got put into motel rooms. some companies like Duie Pyle, have really nice (no kidding) bunk rooms...
