Ive had my suspicion that either people dont wanna talk to me or somethin aint right with my cb, ive had enough and tried to fix it when cascadia blew a tire next to me going almost 75. started sparkin up the place, i blew the horn yelled on the cb but he kept rollin... others tried to tell him but he aint stop. I bought a new mic and bought a talk back radio but i cant hear myself out the radio. Cb turns on, controls work fine and says im transmitting but no voice. Whats up with that?

Last couple of days at home I've had the wife and kids help me with radio checks using a little Midland handheld unit vs my Stryker and my Northpoint. Takes the guesswork out

Sometimes. What I'm really after is to hear the big radio on the handheld.

    Slowmover1 Thanks this.

Yeah, good idea to conduct a radio test with a trusted source, if you have a buddy available to do so.

It's a tricky thing to expect people to respond to you via radio, since you don't know if their radio works or if they are listening on your channel or if they give a darn what happens to their equipment.

A while back I saw a big two-axle utility trailer loaded with some type of equipment. The trailer had a wobbling flat that was about to catch on fire. The guys in the tow vehicle didn't respond to radio, horn, lights or prayer. At a stop light, I did get the driver to roll down his window. He told me he knew about the flat and the smoke and that other drivers had signaled him about it, but he smilingly said they were trying to make it back to the shop since they didn't have a jack.
