Can you speak a little more on that subject? I just cannot get over the fact that they want to give someone .51 cpm with 6 months of otr experience. They're not very many companies out there whatsoever that start someone with such a small amount of time at that rate. we're talking a .16 cent raise, in six months?
And i asked very clearly to the recruiter, i said "that's not some .42 with "bonuses" (detention, stop pay, breakdown) added in? He very clearly said no, that's what you're going to get. .51 cent. I dealt with ALOT of ######## at .35 cpm. I would put a lot of time in a company that would give me .51, if i can get anywhere near 2500 to 3000 miles a week there.

I can’t speak to what’s happening there right now. But Covenant like others, has operated on a sliding scale pay. Does this company since they’ve been bought out? I do not know. But I would direct my questions to the recruiter in such a manner.

“Does a 1000 mile load pay the same rate per mile as a 100 mile load?”

That is the question you need the answer to.

Now with all that said. The current state of the economy is forcing companies to STOP their bull #### games. And treat drivers better. Let’s hope that’s the case here.

I’ll also add this. I get almost $1.00 a mile for loads under 50 miles, as a company driver.

Add in what they call “local” it comes out to almost $1.45 a mile.

That sounds like a lot. But the reality is, I probably lose money on those loads. A lot lol. It’s generally BS loads that take 2 hours to drive 50 miles to, 2 hours back. After having sat at the dock for 2 hours.

Keep your eyes on the big picture. Don’t be upset if you don’t average 2500-3000 miles a week. That’s the old pay scale talking. You’ll earn just as much at 2000 with the new job. As you did at 3000 at the old job.

And you won’t be near as tired at the end of the day. Best of luck to you

They have the Sunoco plant here to in Neenah Wi also , they have 2 plants , one in Neenah and one in Menasha , yard dog pay is 197$ for a 10 hour shift at a pretty laid back paper mill not going to get rich or starve either.

Landair also runs a dedicated regional gig out of Sunoco most of the trucks ive seen were new 680s , Sunoco manufacturers Headers , Headers are the inside roll of a 5k pound parent roll of paper , kind of like your TP roll at home in your bathroom.
Its all no touch and a lot of drop and hook , headers outbound and rolls of kraft (brown paper) inbound , pay is above average for the area and so is drop pay , id call recruiting and see what's up near you.
