Ok guys, I been thinkin on this a while but never tried it. The coolant filter housing on my motor has been stopped up ever since I’ve owned it. It had green coolant so I’ve kept it that way and just dumped the SCA stuff in periodically and used test strips to tell me how often. As y’all know it’s a pain in the buttocks.
It’s of course drained right now since I’ve got it tore apart. Does anyone have anything bad to say about flushing the system with water and then going back with red ELC coolant so I can stop worrying about testing it all the time? It’s a ‘99 model N14 and I’m sure it came factory with green stuff.
Where is everyone #5

The red ELC coolant is all I run. The corrosion inhibitors are much better than the green and like you said you dont have to maintain it near as much, if any at all compared to green.
The silicates and various other additives that the green has in it plays hell on aluminum parts if your nitrate and ph levels aren't good, and even then it sucks from what I've experienced.
In my opinion, go with the red, brother Shooter. Just my opinion.AModelCat, tony97905, johndeere4020 and 17 others Thank this. -

I do run a coolant filter tho, it's a high flow non-additive with the 40 microns filtration to keep scale and debris from circulating in the system.
A fleetguard WF2123. It's a little taller than your normal height filter, if you need a shorter one on yours, a WF2122 is the short version.
