Hey all. Saw this today coming over the Alex Fraser. Went through the scale behind it, and then passed it on Hwy 17 a few minutes later. The tractor hauling it was a day cab with the Canadian Tire logo on it (Canada Drayage?).
Is this something that was recently approved for BC, and will it be coming to all trailer types?
PS: I thought it might have been a typo, but the chassis also said overall length 60’6” on it
Are 60’ trailers/chassis now BC legal?

This can't be right, notice the chassis has Ontario plates. Could possibily be operating under some kind of pilot program/experiment, certainly not T.A.C. legal for Western Canada, trailer wheelbase way over 41'.
Anybody else have any idea? -
If they go to 60 footers I’ll retire or just run south .. the clowns pulling Canadian Tire trailers are already over the Center line by a bunch .. I can’t imagine with 60 footers

I have not noticed any in Ontario yet, I did not even know 60' existed.
Could be lost. I found myself in Indiana with a set of B-trains many years ago, darn fog

I don't buy it..
In Ontario, wal mart had a pilot project approved by the ministry to haul either 57 or 60 footers. They were all tridem dry vans, still met 41' wheelbase law as well as 23m max length law. Used with day cabs only. Used to have a picture...cant find anymore. I thought the boats were designed for only a few different lengths of cans...? 24, 48 ?

Twenty and 40-foot containers are the most common in ocean shipping. Container ships and port handling capacities are measured in twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU). The 60-foot container makes more sense for ocean shipping because they can more easily be combined with 20 and 40-foot containers than the also available 45, 48 and 53-foot containers.gokiddogo Thanks this.

These tests need to be done with the type of guys who will pull them after the probation period ... just grab any joe blow off the fleet and send him out .. look at the turnpikes across the prairies they have some of the most aggressive drivers on the road now

Remembering when 53's started showing up on the roads....same deal.
kinda like the test runs of 3 - 48ft combos running between Regina & Stoon on 11...wait till they start pulling pikes with a pair 60' s
