For hopper bottom I'm thinking 450 minimum being that we are in the hills.

I will say this 11.1l detroit is about your best smaller bore. 365hp 1350tq. But the feel way better than 3176 and can go up most with just a tune. They are light but weigh the same as a 12.7l that can go 500hp 1650tq stock tune. Yes 1650 was available but only to a freightliner from the factory. They are capable of 725 hp and 2050tq and drive ever day with good milage. They can go way higher but milage drops and so does reliability at that point.

    Agreed.
OTR and 80k gross?500Hp and an 18913A minimum. 500 hp will be much easier to drive and will probably get better economy than 450hp smaller engine.

I shouldn't complain... considering the fact that we're getting a really good rate on this run either way...but some rate cutting SOB just got the rate on this stuff knocked from $7.25 a mile down to under $6.50. And for no good reason...they would have paid the higher rate if that dumbarse hadn't opened his mouth.

If it has premium parts, drilled rods, piston coolers, right cam, and injectors yes. I have a N14 premium at 625 wheel hp and 2150 tq. Dad ran it everyday to 996k only had injectors changed and every part bolted to the engine. But no overhaul. Just my back up now and sits in shop. Now for the Cats someone else will have to jump in. But 750hp 2250tq on a daily driver is not unheard of.

My factory reman Detroit 500hp/1650 dyno 518 at the ground with stock tune. Did a few other things to it. Was waiting for warranty to run out before adding tune. Its out just have to get around to it.
