@wore out I feel your pain brother!! There is only 3 of us and 2 dogs in the house now. Our grocery bill is outrageous and I'm gone usually 3 or 4 days at a time!! Maybe I need to put in a camera and see who is eating the food!! Maybe my wife has got a boyfriend... Oh well can't miss what you can't measure!!

It's kind of a specialized deal. This customer isn't usually worried about the rates. They need those of us that do this to know how to handle their products and to know the quirks of the customers.
There have been people trying to horn in on this work for a long time with low-ball rates but experience always wins out. This particular idiot went in on an already established rate and told them he could afford to do it for less...one of those jack wagon guys who "knows his costs".
If he had a step deck he'd be hauling RGN loads for dry van rates. -
Decided while I'm sitting here doing nothing I'd get an oil change. May as well do the transmission, hubs and differentials as well...
Anyone see an engine? They told me it's got one but I'll be darned the thing must be invisible...

Theres all sorts of ways to add power. PDI tune, PP box, older pre low nox files, someone with a laptop that doesn't mind asssing up YOUR ecm/engine for you with crap tunes or files.
Point is, alot of it is how you drive it, how heavy you run it in my opinion .
As far as power to each brand? That's subjective I guess because not everyone agrees on when is too far. I've seen them all self destruct. 12.7 watched those break wrist pins and window blocks on several occasions.
Watched several N14 over 600 destroy main caps, blocks and cranks. Cummins knows and has a bulletin on the fretting issues.
Watched a few 3406 a,b,c,e c15 have their low liner issues, and share of cracked cylinder heads through the years. High horse power didnt neccessary cause every one of those issues per say, but i promise it didn't help it either and added stress definitely furthered the destruction on the failures I've seen.
A safe bet?
12.7 600/1800 torque.
N14 525 1850 torque.
3406E/C15 600/2050 torque.
Can you go higher, absolutely. I'm just saying without knowing the paticluars on what you've got, that's a very safe bet.cke, Zeviander, peterbilt_2005 and 17 others Thank this. -
