Has anyone figured this out?

Yes. I have. The radio gets power from two different sources. One is a battery source (full time power) which allows the radio to retain memory settings and will also allow the radio to operate with the key in the off position for exactly one hour (to prevent battery drainage if you forget to manually turn the radio back off.) The other power source is an ACC source, which allows the radio to operate normally as long as the key is on. If the radio isn’t getting power from this, it will only operate for exactly one hour, then shut off. The majority of the time, it’s just a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker. Check the 10 amp fuse or breaker in position F4-F. The main reason this fuse blows or breaker trips is because the CB power is on the same circuit, and it is common to see this circuit shorted out when drivers try to connect or disconnect their CB and allow the two wires to touch each other.
As an aside, if your radio works while the truck runs, but clears out your stored settings whenever you turn the truck off, you aren’t getting full time power from the BAT side, and that 10 amp fuse or breaker is in the F2-E position.Last edited: Dec 21, 2018
