    IIRC the throttle valve was used for something to do with EGR or regens. Its not used to control RPM.

    Yes I know that.
    It’s to maintain good positive EGR flow in to the intake manifold.
    Just screwing around a little bit...
    But the question was about if diesels have throttle valves or not ? Lol
    The throttle valve on a gasser really doesn’t control the rpm either.
    It helps controls the air fuel mixture by limiting air when needed.
    The throttle position sensor either mounted on the throttle valve or on throttle pedal like a diesel controls the RPM.

    I didn't know that there was an argument. Is that why your buddies are chiming in? I must have mistaken this forum for a place that people can exchange information and find legitimate answers.
