Seattle/Tacoma: You can avoid some of the madness by taking the 512 to the 167 to the 405. The 405 still sucks. No way around that.

Des Moines: Heading north on 35 then east on 80 or W on 80 to 35 S, you can take IA-5/US-65 for a much more pleasant drive through the countryside.

LA: In the morning rush hour, I always take the 15 north to the 395 to the 58 and over Tehachapi to the Central Valley, if I picked up out in that area.

    Nashville: Briley Parkway

Chicago: Hwy 113 from the I-57 in Kankakee takes you over to I-55 a few miles south of the Arsenal avoiding I-80.

El Paso: Someone mentioned the "mountain pass", which is Hwy 375 Transmountain Rd. This is a good way to go if you're LIGHT. 8% grade.

Used to run in and out the Holland when I first started. It was the only way I knew how for a time. I was only 24-25 yrs old and nervous as a treed cat. Lol
Vz is or was only 80 EZ pass or 1000 for the ticket, I choose free GW outbound. God forsaken cross bronx or the famous "go around" cork screw which never saved me nothing on time. Cross Bronx was never good but after 9\11 all trucks upper level only made it that much worse.

287 between I45 and Ft Worth is 98% 4 lane and most of that is freeway now. Can be way quicker, especially in or near rush hour.

As far as Ft Collins to Laramie I have ran it in the summer, but you're right, It's faster staying on the big road.

If you're south of Nashville and need to get into KY while 24/65 are jacked, you can take 840 to TN 109 and ride that into Franklin KY.
