I know this is old. But you do make a good point. The point? You’re happy with your job.
I make about $50k, sometimes more, sometimes less. But I take off 3-4 months a year. I’m happy as a pig in mud. It’s not about the money. It’s about the perceived quality of life.
They could start paying drivers a start salary of $150k a year tomorrow. And next month, someone would post on this forum about how bad the pay is.

You're a wise man!
You measure value in quality of life, plus money, instead of money alone.SteerTire Thanks this. -
We keep hoping to win the lottery. I guess it wouldn’t hurt if I started by buying a ticket lololSirscrapntruckalot, MartinFromBC, JohnBoy and 1 other person Thank this.

I am certain that all of my drivers could get much better paying jobs elsewhere. They stay because i treat them with respect and they love only working 161 days out of the year.

Don't bother. I tried that. Doesn't work.Sirscrapntruckalot and SteerTire Thank this.

A little optimism never hurts. Every Friday I stop at the same store and buy a couple of tickets. Last year I won four dollars. Some people should not gamble.Sirscrapntruckalot and Lonesome Thank this.

Wages that low would have to include a pretty hefty benefits package at no cost to myself in order for me to seriously consider it and even then I probably wouldn't Jump On It.

The dude that came forward with the winning ticket on that last big lottery played every week with the same numbers. It only took him 22 years to hit.MartinFromBC, REO6205 and Lonesome Thank this.

I make a minimum of $1250 a week for 5 days work. Im home every night and have weekends off, and they are trying to get us more money now as many of our drivers are leaving. I drive 487 miles a day and do 4 stops (no touch, Im too old to be a lumper)
Im ok with what Im making.
IF you aren't its time for you to make some changes.
