So I was coming home from California for the holidays, and I thought to myself "What am I going back to Canada for?"
I couldn't find an answer to that question lol, kinda sad isn't it?
So have any other owner ops looked into taking their truck/company and moving to the US permanently?
Time to move trucking business from Canada to the US?

A Canadian can't just move unless you have an US green card or citizenship

I would never give up my Canadian citizenship. My BIL did and moved relocated in Arizona to work few years ago. I would have just travelled back and forth enough to satisfy US immigration.
The worst and most expensive health care in the world among other things. Having to keep a gun in the glove box, night table, kitchen and in your waistband is normal.

Canadianhauler21, Bakerman, D.Tibbitt and 6 others Thank this. -
Why would anyone in their right mind want to move to the US now? It's a fascist waste land of destroyed forests, deserts where there once were fertile fields, health care only for the ones wealthy enough to pay for it, millions of minimum wage, dead end jobs and the lost hopes of once proud people...

I wouldn't say the worst, Canadian healthcare is #### expensive (taxes+user fees) and has killed 3-4 people I know personally in the last few years. I went to a hospital in Texas in 2009 (Company health insurance) and seen a doctor in 15 minutes. In Calgary, the current wait time today is 32 hours in the ER.
The gun part does suck, I've had security at several shipper/receivers/truck stops, come up to me and be like "we know you're Canadian, it says so on your door, try not to wander around to much, we know you don't have a gun" lol.
Idk, maybe its just because I just did my year end, or paid the company pro rate, or stopping at the 114th Flying J; after being at the US stops for 3 weeks......just makes you wonder why the hell we put up with this crap up here for. Also Trudeau. -
Grass looks greener on the other side of the fence. Try not to make this political unless you'd like it moved to politics.
BigHossVolvo Thanks this. -
I looked into it a bit once. Basically impossible for a trucker. They do have a lottery system for a green card, but that's more for impoverished countries (we are heading that way).
Australia would be easier, but you have to be under 35 for a two year trial run.BigHossVolvo Thanks this. -
If America wants a 51st state we'll sell you Alberta! Its a win win for both sides!
