    I guess you have never pulled a trailer with centered hook ups like most open trailers?

    So, to all that may be curious, it ended up being the maxi cam on the rear axle that was the problem. After rolling around in the snow for a day and a half under the trailer, and trying many of the tips that were posted here, we finally got it fixed. Not the best way to spend Christmas Eve and half of Christmas Day, but it all comes with being an owner operator. Thanks to all for the suggestions - we're back in business!

    If it's below freezing, there might be an ice plug somewhere in the line or one of the valves is frozen open. Pour in some methyl hydrate into the emergency line and give it 5-10 minutes. If that doesn't work, you have to find what is frozen and heat it up (usually with a torch).

    I've been through enough winters already to not like having to deal with this kind of problem. Especially frozen brakes.

    That’s all I pull. And generally you are hooking up from the driver’s side. So the outside side one is the one to the right if you are facing them. But, you can try to pick apart something for nothing if that’s what you choose to do.

    That was one of the first things we checked. We live where there's lots of snow and cold every winter, so it's definitely something that comes up. Wish it would've been that easy of a fix this time!

    For over 30 yrs it's always been "red on the right" facing the front of the trailer. So yes you are correct.
