two weeks ago i got out of my truck to make a delivery and became short of breath , first thing i thought was heart attack but no pain in my chest ,arms, legs , or neck. got back into truck chewed up some asprin felt better , drove home. happened again at home, called meat wagon, went to hospital and after some tests they found out i had blood clots in my legs that moved to my lungs. found out this is common in truckers because of long periods of sitting and most likely to occure in smokers (i don't)
i was admitted and put on blood thinners (heparin, and cumadin) after 3 nights my heart set off the monitors as it slowed down to 25 beats a minute 70-100 being normal. it was determined it was sleep apnea. they said my heart is in good shape. doctor told me they are required by law to notify the dot and you have to get a study done and treated before you can get recertified to drive. now because my heart rate slowed down so much they installed a pacemaker for xtra insurance. my neighbor just sunday had a tennant that died because he had apnea and refused to wear the cpap and refused the pacemaker (sealed the deal for me)
they had me sleep 2 nights without the cpap and the pacemaker did the job maintaining my heartbeat. anybody know the regs on pacemakers ?

I FOUND THE ANSWER AND YOU ARE WRONG MR RETIRED DOT OFFICER

Coronary artery bypass surgery and pacemaker implantation are remedial procedures and thus not unqualifying. Implantable cardioverter defibrillators are disqualifying due to risk of syncope. Coumadin is a medical treatment which can improve the health and safety of the driver and should not, by its use, medically disqualify the commercial driver. The emphasis should be on the underlying medical condition(s) which require treatment and the general health of the driver. FMCSA should be contacted at (202) 366-1790 for additional recommendations regarding the physical qualification of drivers on coumadin.

I didn't say you could not receive it. All I did was post the rule. Perhaps you should read more carefully. You'll probably receive a 1-year medical but I am not a physician.
