Your reply is the correct one, regardless of how the driver is paid. Drivers that drive interstate are Fair labor standards act exempt.

I never thought about the reset affecting clockwork. If that’s true a job working 14 hrs a day 5 days a week w/ OT after 8 or 40 would pay 85 hrs. At $20 hr a Driver could make $1700 wk. That’d be a good gig. Sign me up

Overnite used to hire Drivers and send them home w/a load classified as a road Driver. Then pay $11.00 straight time. Union scale was 17.00 + OT after 8. Now A lot are paying straight or OT after 50 hrs.

    Your company decides, not you.

BTW, Overtime pay for truck drivers is STRICTLY VOLUNTARY. The law (Fair Labor Standards Act or FLSA) that mandates overtime for cashiers, and other hourly workers specifically exempts those in the transportation industries with safety-sensitive jobs. Overtime pay for work as a truck driver is not required by law. Your employer MAY CHOOSE to pay it, or not.

Yes. If your from the US you are suppose to work up to 14 hours a day. 14x5 is 70 hours. I've only ever worked 5 days and went home for 2... Hourly and mileage.

That's exactly why I won't work over 40 hours a week. I saw phone call from dispatch Thursday night, no doubt a hot load. Don't even bother answering.

Are you on elog? If not, then youre on a short haul exemption, but thats only good within 100 or 150 air miles from your terminal. If youre on elog, you got 11 hours a day to run the truck.

If he is doing 65 in 5, he is averaging 13 hrs a day. He breaks the 12 hr requirement for the time card exemption.
