Is Window Tinting a Magnet for DOT?

I want to tint my windows legally (70%), but if it means DOT will be pulling me over all the time, then I’d rather not have it on. Has anyone tried it?

Get the Mirrored glass like the limos had in the 70's and 80's......
That way- You can laugh at the cop trying to see inside, but the only thing he'll see is his own face,

Try that 1 out if you want.

Lots of can haulers around my way ride with some pretty dark windows... I'd say go for it you'll probably be good

I used to run 35% for years. Never got questioned about it. Inspected many times and not a word.

I’d love to run 20% on my Pete, in Jersey it’s only a $54 ticket. But the whole csa crap is what stops me. No need collecting points from mindless b/s when you may need that clean record if poop ever hits the fan. I don’t need the head aches

I see Lots of local trucks in my area running limo tint.
Keep in mind We don’t have any scales or P.O.E to deal with just ADOT enforcement and AZ DPS CEB

I've been running 70% for 3 years now. The actual tint is less because of the factory "tint" on the windows. I don't remember what the actual tint that was installed but a little trial and error with a tint checker before install got me legal. You can't even tell the windows are tinted from the inside or the outside. After 3 years the tint is getting scratched up from the windows going up and down so I may pull it off eventually. If it comes off it won't be going back on. It does help to keep some heat out during the summer and my left arm doesn't have an uneven tan but I'm not sure it is worth having.

It seems like the factory tint cannot be removed, right?

Correct, it is in the glass from what I could tell. It isn't much, maybe 4-5 percent. I don't remember exactly.

I think each state determines percentage and tint regulations.

Correct. It's baked into the glass.
