Hey Red, When I ws leased there, we hauled 500 lb blocks of butter on flatbeds and had to hand unload it. What a slippery mess, summertime was real bad but in the winter it was actually worse on the ice.
-
Smart #####... ROFL!
-
I deadlift 425...don't think I could pull up your butter blocks.

I'll call Roxy today and ask about compensation: I'm going with Katlaw school here in Austell, since Tinman liked it so much. (that is, if I can get a loan) Their finance is 5,000.00, and since that's more than WS was, I doubt they'd recompense that. But maybe they'll do part of it, so I'll check. Also check for their school too. -
They will reimburse you $100/month for x number of months up to a certain amount. I can't remember exactly though, I think up to 3000-3500 or so? That's 3 years of payments.
But, that's what I have set up with them. They pay you .28/mile instead of .29/mile for the first 6 months, but it is worth it in my opinion. -
Do you work for w/s if so what is home time like . And do they hire newbees
-
home is for every 6 days away from home you get 1 day at home, its best to spend a few weeks out, then head home for a few days at a time.
yes they hire newbs,
however they are being very picky to who they hire right now
roxy told me that they will NOT hire if you have ever had a felony.
the school you attended also has to be a cetified school... call them, ask all the questions you want answered.
go back to page one on this thread and the other w.s thread down below, ull find everything you wanted. -
I got my prehire letter; now to get the funding done. Roxy said I wouldn't believe how many applicants they get every day. I guess it's the same with all the companies now, until freight picks up and things get back to normal, it will be hard to find a trucking job.
I just consider myself blessed. That's the only explanation.

Red,
The company I am working for now, says they are averaging 50 apps for every "local" ad run in the newspaper.
That's with a 3 year minimum experience requirement. Kinda spooky when you consider this time last year, they were getting very little response. -
I wanted to take a moment to appreciate those kind and concerned enough to take a moment and help a new driver become safe, productive, and most importantly well informed. It's thru that process that the newer drivers taking the road become a part of something bigger than the job, and improve the entire industry thru their actions and attitude. I hear so many of the (super) seasoned truck drivers in this forum complain about the lack of enthusiasm, training, and attitude of the influx of drivers taking the road during this economic crisis. I'm left wondering what flavor they left in the mouths of the newer drivers they spoke to in such a way. It's the refreshment of hearing from those kind and concerned that makes us realize that the others who trump doom and gloom down on us are only there to make us appreciate the positive feedback that much more. For the sake of not dignifying the sour with any more of a response, I'll end at that.
I've noticed that our local ads are almost gone. There were hundreds more last summer.
Someone mentioned that Watkins was no longer providing tuition assistance...if you pay for your training out of pocket, therefore not involving any lending, would you still not qualify for repayment by the company? Thanks again...if I say anything this time that angers you, please ask and I'll rephrase.
