Too make this short i went to get my med card renewed for another year. They dip the stick in urine put it in machine which they had trouble getting to work. It said i haf 500 g or whatever of sugar doc said it had to be between 100 and 400 to qualify they did a finger stick cus that thought that ment my sugar was high. Well it was normal they did dip stick n pee again and machine said 1000 doc disqualified me. What the crap is that 100 to 400 range for pee in ur urine or your actuall finger prick?? Cus my sugar is at normal levels when they pricked my finger.
Need help with info for med card and diabetes

@Moose1958 can probably direct you to a reference concerning that.

That sucks.

I could but I see no need when this is laid out much better then I could ever do in this WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE on the subject. If the OP is showing large amounts of protein in their urine it points to many issues NOT JUST high blood sugar. My only suggestion for the OP is to see a Physician either a General Practioner or an Endocroligst.MagnumaMoose and Chinatown Thank this.

I had the same problem and told them I was taking Invokana, they did do a finger stick and seen that it was ok.MagnumaMoose and Chinatown Thank this.

OK, first I am NOT a Doctor or lab specialist. There is no need for anybody to come back stating anything I am about to state as an opinion because it is just that, an opinion. However, based on years of being a diabetic. Followed by having this spill over into the urine and what causes it explained by a physician to me I am doubtful you can have a normal "stick" reading and have sugar spilling over. I think you are mistaken by what is spilling into your urine. Take a close look at this ------

Take a close look at what I circled. those dip readings are for more than one item. If you have the hard copy of your physical go look at what block is checked. If it is saying sugar something is wrong with either that clinics blood sugar test strips or there is something wrong with the dip strips. BTW you can get a 2nd opinion on your physical from another examiner. However to avoid a doctor shopping problem make sure if you do see a 2nd examiner you tell them of this first physical.
Below you will find the FMCSA ME examiner guidance on this.

I think the machine that put the test strip is was faulty because it kept giving diff. Readings. My finger prick was a normal level and my a1c was under a 10 but because the sugar in urine is why she did it also the doc might be 2 fries short of a happy meal but needless to say im probably gonna have to pay somwhere else again.
-
Your A1C should be below 6. If it was 10, then you need to see a doctor to do further testing.
Shock Therapy Thanks this. -
I have diabetes so itll be over 6 but as long as its under a 10 im good for a 1 year card like i always get the past 6 years
