I'm curious about the no horns up top too. You don't see many cows around here with horns.

I don't remember who was asking about cow hauling but here's what little I know...

I do know that cows up here in the intermountain west are easy work. Most people have a summer range and a winter range so the cows know the drill. They are eager to get on and off the truck and you usually don't need to hotshot them..the occasional wild eyed Charolais being the exception.

Calves are a little harder to convince but if you keep the lights on and keep some pressure on them they'll load.

If you decide not to go down the chute ahead of em when you let the top deck out and decide to straddle the ramp next to the doghouse they'll still unload but don't move and don't make eye contact with them or they'll stop coming out.

Don't open your traps while you're at the chute and don't do it going down the highway either.

Cowboys don't wear watches so if he tells you to be at the chute at 7am then be there at 6:30...gates open, ramps down ready to walk em on before you're backed up to the chute.

And if you're hauling in the winter carry a big prybar. Ramps and gates will freeze down. You learn to sweep out real good the night before if there's cold weather coming.

Finally running with the tridem. ND winter allowances and I'm running 92,000 gross. 29.5 ton of product. Too bad I don't make more money when the company does.
