I was on a load going from wausau wi to chapel hill nc. got about 10 miles from wausau and the q-com started beeping like crazy.

I was tight on time so I just kept driving till my first load check. when i finally pulled over and checked the messages they wanted me to relay the load in plover and one of the messages was " pull over and cal dispatch" and we have the q-coms that can't be read in motion.

I got a kick out of that.

Our Qualcomms have been replaced with Blackberries but when we had the Qualcomms I let dispatch know I would not pull over for Qualcomm messages . There were too many useless messages from safety giving weather alerts for weather halfway across the country or telling everybody one of our drivers had a rollover . I told dispatch if they really need to contact me use the cell phone . I will stop ASAP to return a phone call .

You're certainly entitled to disagree with me but I disagree with your disagreement.:biggrin_255:

I work for Werner also. Here is a prime example of an "Important" red light message... I was on a run from Iowa to Grand Rapids, MI the other day. I had a delivery at 6am in GR. I needed to be at the Family Dollar (I'm dedicated to them) no later than 8pm the night before. I was under a time crunch to get there by 8pm and was forced to pull over for an "Important" red light message. The message read:

This is a fleet wide announcement. It has come to our attention that 4 drivers slid tandems in H row today. Please let your fellow drivers know this is against company policy. Thanks. We care Werner cares.:biggrin_2554:

I stopped to read that message. I ended up pulling into the Family Dollar at 8:08pm. Exactly one minute too late. Luckily the Store Manager was a nice guy and counted me on time even though I couldn't start unloading until 6:15am after my 10 hour break. Had I not stopped for that message I would have been on time and would not have had to rely on the manager to be a nice guy.

Now here is where I confess better trip planning would have avoided the the whole situation all together and the red light message would not have been a big deal.:biggrin_25525:

I like how you said it was for a "friend" then you clearly say there is nothing "I" can do. l.o.l. There is no sense in lieing just be honest your talking/typing to other truck drivers thinking the same thing as you.

yes it does, try sleeping with that #### thing beeping at you. I've hung it out the window and rolled the window up so I can sleep.

I wasn't trying to lie... The "friend" thing was more or less an attempt (failed apparently) at humor.

The Qualcom beeps every time a message is sent to my truck (which is annoying while sleeping) but the red light on the dash only comes on when the message is supposed to be an important message. That is just how it is in my truck and the other trucks I've been on.
