The new contract hasn’t been agreed on at so this are just figures because I’m going through the hiring process now

 

So no getting a foot in the door right out of school?

 

You could get hired as a dockworker---and they'll know you have a CDL. And we have a program where another driver gets paid to train you (well, after the new contract goes through.....).

Or possibly get hired as dock/cdl combo.

 

Any idea how many miles new guys are getting in an average week?

 

depends on terminal, i got 2100 last week without even trying. New guys get the same or more mileage at my terminal.

New guys will sometimes/oftentimes get MORE mileage on any given night because it's hard sometimes to predict what freight needs to go where. We then, initially get dispatched to different terminals, and then the other terminal turns out to be the busier one that night.

So, it's luck of the draw.
