    If you mean the voltmeter reads 11.5 volts while cranking then you're fine. 11.5 volts sitting with the key on only then you need to get those batteries/charging system checked.

    The voltmeter is not really a good indicator of the batteries taking a charge. During normal operation the alternator is supposed to supply 100% of the power to run the electrical system and maintain the batteries. Batteries are simply for starting the truck, absorbing voltage spikes and for supplying power in the event the alternator fails or electrical loads exceed the alternator's capacity. Dirty connections will affect the charging of the batteries but you should still see 13.5-14ish volts on the voltmeter.

    Too bad he doesn’t just fix it since it’s so common. Not his ticket

    batteries alone when unhooked at cleaning were all 11.5 each and truck running voltmeter shows just shy of 14 volts

    Truck is running good now i'm not exactly sure what fixed it cause I did quite afew thing mostly cleaning cables and tighten and such the bare spot on the neg for the ecm I taped over it tightly for now till I get a new one then I will fix it right

    I would seriously consider having those batteries charged/tested and have the charging system checked. You're running the risk of being left stranded or frying the starter.

    hey everyone

    quick questions, the wire that had a bare spot it comes off the ground post on the battery as one wire then goes into a connector you can split it's just a male female style of connector and then it goes into 4 wires that run along the frame tot the ecm and so on, can I cut that connector out? there's not fuse or nothing so I can really figure why it's there

    I went to the dealer and it doesn't show one of them connectors being there and I cant find that style of a connector, I bought new wire and crimp and a new eye but I was wondering what everyone here thought

    @AModelCat

    I've seemed to narrow the problem down to where when the truck is really running hard like up and hill is when it cuts out it doesn't seem to cut out as much any more just when it running hard up a hill and I tried on the way home to make it go empty I put the pedal to the floor and ran to about 1800 rpm them it kicked out again so it seems like under hard power it kicks, my neighbours say the throttle position sensor what are your thoughts

    so far I've narrowed it down to the batteries, throttle position sensor or the ecm itself, also do you know if codes are stored inside the ecm? I don't have a check engine light now but if I got a scan done if possibly something would come up

    If it’s the pedal itself, it shouldn’t do it on cruise. I had mine go out and ran home by using cruise only.What about wiring from turbo boost sensor? Maybe heat damaged?

    Stored codes will flash yellow dash light , active codes red dash light when using self diagnostic button. All codes available on line . I have a list

    The ecm needs a minimum amount of voltage to work. I don’t know if it will work sporadically at the minimum or not. Either way maybe Someone else can tell you more. There’s an easy way to tell if it’s getting proper voltage by using a fuse ( less than 5 amps maybe ) and if power blows fuse it at least shows adequate power to ECM. I don’t know all details, but remember reading it somewhere.
