Remember, drivers; Always be gracious and thankful to those customers who get it done, and let them know how much their work is appreciated. We all hear about it when we screw up, but how often are we applauded for a job well done?

 

I can attest a little positive vibe towards a shipper or receiver, in most cases will go a long way. Be positive.

 

Hexcel, West Valley City, UT. Checked in, signed bills, loaded in less than 5 minutes. 5 pallets 2500lbs.

 

Imperial CFS Torrance, CA. I arrived a day early because I delivered in Vernon, and did not have enough hours to make it to a truck stop. I checked in, waited about an hour and a half. The shipping supervisor came up to me and said " You re a day early, but we will load you now". I told him thank you so much. About 3 hrs later, I had a full trailer loaded to the brim.

It was mighty nice of them to load me a day early, even though they were super busy, and allowed me to stay on the street outside of their property

 

Peacock Cheese in Vernon, CA. Very nice people. 39 minutes to unload me. And they will let you stay on premises overnight, but you will be locked in on premises

 

i don't play that game, never did in all my 40+ years...i buy what i want to buy, whenever i need something. i boycott nothing.

remember the Levi's fiasco a few years ago? that was when Levi's pulled out of the truck stop sales saying something like they wanted a younger generation of buyer's....i could have given a flip, to this day, i buy Levi's jeans.

boycotting ends up hurting the workers in those places, they are innocent victims, and i personally will not be a party to people losing thier jobs, if the companies go under.

all shippers/receivers have thier good employee's, and thier jerkwads...all places have THEIR policies in place, to be followed.

 

Had a recycling load to prewitt nm unloading and reloading in about 1.5 hours start to finish. Had to pull out of the plant and renter so could’ve done it faster. The Kraft place in Fremont ca load went to unloading like 30 minutes. Single best loads ran for my current company

 

Camso in Emporia, KS. Loaded and gone in 18 minutes. You walk to the door and call the shipping department , and they tell you to pick a dock, and the loader comes to your door, gets your pick up number, loads you, and then bring your bills and the seal, and you re gone. Very nice people

 

Kroger DC in Romulus MI

Brand spanking new DC. They took me 3 hours before my appt and was out within 2 hours.

 

Berry Plastics in Evansville. But it started out real bad. Then got real good.

I have an appointment for 12pm. I get there at 1130am and am told that my load is not scheduled to be loaded until 6pm. Knowing that I would time out before then I told them I'd be back after my 10. Of course between 1130 and 930pm they have shift change so nobody on the new shift knows what happened.

Fast forward to about 930pm. I arrive and am told that there are 20 trucks ahead of me to be loaded and that the wait would be 5 hours. I asked why and they said "because you're late." I told them no, I showed up 10 hours ago and was told my load wasn't ready when it was supposed to be. The security guy is like "well sorry we can only take in the order you arrive and you show as 4 hours late so you'll be loaded when they get the chance. I said do you at least have a dock for me and he says yes and assigns me a dock. I'm madder then hell at this point.

I back into the dock pop the air brakes kill the engine and 5 minutes later I feel the truck shaking. I'm like WTF is that did someone just hit me? I hop out the bunk and look out the window. In the rear view mirror I see a sight I didn't expect until 2am.... a red light! In 30 minutes I was out of there with a full 53' trailer load.

They still think I was late and I still argue with them about that but in the end all was well. I've always D and H'ed there and it's been quick and pleasant. The LL wasn't that bad considering.
