It was alot easier running 10&8 to stay right, or was for me.

I figure if another fella wants to view me as less than human for the way I log my time it's his loss. I have never really had time for those that want to be holier than thou so to speak.

The one change I never seen coming was large cars being viewed as not cool. For the most part the late model driver seems to hate them, and those who drive them. Fluff em and feed em fish heads I say

People view them as not cool? Is that possible?

It was LOT easier for me too, stop your clock to wait out rush hour or parish the thought because you were tired. The large car thing to me is the influx of drivers to whom it’s just a “job”. A lot of us felt “called” to trucking so to speak. To me it’s more than just a job.

I’m not sure what would make the current HOS rules more bearable...

Part of me wants to simply toss the whole idea out the window and let the idiots kill them selves but that’s not sensible in this day and age...

I usually just drove till I got tired or got to where I was going to, whichever came first, and then made the numbers work with an Atlas, calculator and mileage numbers I had written down.

Speaking of that, I’ve been telling my wife that there are two types of drivers. One type just does this as a job and views a Cascadia as a tool. Then there’s the type like me who love trucks and do it because it’s a passion. It burns inside of me. I love trucks and always will. Trying to explain this to her is hard but we got it done.

That's the rules I started under. 10 driving 8 off and 70/8. Split how you want as long as 1 was for 2. I personally did a lot better doing the 5 & 4 split than now having to run all day, never get enough sleep at work cause about 4 hrs at a time is all she wrote and I'm wide awake.

Honestly part of the problem was guys would stop their clock then lump freight or secure and tarp then start their clock. I know because I’ve done it, you weren’t supposed to but we did. The problem was the lack of balls to tell dispatch I’m tired and I’m going to bed so the drive when they shouldn’t. I’ve never understood how a dispatcher 500 miles away could “make” you drive tired.
