Because if you got hurt you could still put in a claim . But this was discussed not long ago . You are probably self employed independent contractor's right ? You are not employed by the contractor and they would not pay a claim so why are they charging you ? If you formed an LLC and you were both officers you could be excluded from the LLC requirement . http://gencourt.state.nh.us/rsa/html/XXIII/281-A/281-A-18-a.htm

Shouldn't works mans comp be a percentage of your income???

They have a different percentage depending on your line of work

Workers comp covers you if injured while on the job. It has nothing to do with being retired or not and is a state requirement everywhere. On another note if your driving as a team and not staying busy you need to look for another company. There are some that will keep a team busy. That is if your in something bigger than a van.

FedEx Custom Critical gave a list of approved brokers to their carriers so they could find backhauls . The drivers seem to like it . The rates are a little lower than they are used to but they're still profitable

Thanks for the input....I just found the thanks button...We drive a Sprinter. It cost us 800.00 a month to work for the company we are signed on with .....108.00 is for a peoplesnet (same idea as Quaolcom)...we have talked to other drivers and they can tell how many trucks are in a location: how many trucks are loaded each day from the area and can make an informed judgement on whether to stay or move.

We have no benefit from it, but to tell us what number we are in the dispatch quere.....we dont know, if there are ten or one other expediated driver......we get dispatched from the phone and than get the info from the peoplesnet...the address and such....and than our insurance is about 260.00 a month and than workers comp. but we both r on Medicare and I dont believe the government ever pays twice....

Whats your opinion on this situation

Pls break down the 800/mo fee. Seems excessive.

You're right the government won't pay twice and they won't pay once if they can get out of it . Here is the info regarding Medicare and Workers Comp . http://www.medicareadvocacy.org/FAQ_SecondaryPayer.htm . The reason expediters and other carriers require work men's comp is because their shippers require you to have it . If you are injured on their property and are insured there is less reason for you to go after them .
