Ok I made 658 miles today. All 2 lane except for about 60 miles. As it got dark I had a hard time seeing anything to I kicked the high beams........
Nothing.
Got her stoped in the side of the road and got the switch hot wired to low beams. Much better now!!!
The switch just fell apart when I started wiggling it. All corroded and then the whole plug just fell apart.![]()
40 miles to delivery in the morning. Then 70 miles back where I just came from to pick up yet ANOTHER tarp load.

My biggest worry with this new co is that I'll end up hauling cheap freight because they bid the contracts at just enough to secure it and make money on their end.

Stwik dumb thought time...
Sometimes I really wonder what SPD hauls freight for...
Los Angeles to Connecticut. 2 pieces. 5000lbs total product weight. Aircraft Engine stands...
Now, they’re totally a-okay with me going coast to coast with a 53’ flat with this load and still have 28-30’ of deck space empty. I’m the one trying to get more freight in Kansas to make some extra money for myself... but more so because the alternative makes absolutely zero sense to me. Cluck would be ashamed...
But that’s not even near the worst I’ve seen. That 400lbs crate I dropped in South Carolina traveled solo all the way from Washington state. A 400lbs box in a bloody QuickDraw double drop — BY ITSELF.
I’d imagine their getting full truckload rates for these partials — I have it on good authority from multiple people that my current load paid for the whole trailer. I also know we do some stuff for Boeing that will pay for an entire trailer when it’s a partial for anyone with a brain... and those loads run from Washington to Northeast. Not sure on that lane... but I’d imagine you could come out of Chitown with another pick as an O/O and take that with you to the NE...
I don’t know. I thought coming to an LTL carrier they’d try to maximize what they would pick for each wagon... why buy 53’ trailers and not 48’s if you’re not gonna load me the hell up?
It’s odd to me to say the least... majority of the loads I’ve done are under 20k product weight and are in the 20-30’ range of deck space. If I was an O/O here I’d have a 53’ QuickDraw and just load it to the brim coast to coast...
But I’m young and stupid. Clearly I’m not seeing the full picture? Do some loads contract you to not fill the rest of the deck? I know some of our customers will not offload boxes that are not there’s... so that could come into play... but Jesus.
The load I picked from Boeing and brought to the yard last week... one box one cart. 4000lbs total weight. 12’ of deck space. Washington to Florida............
Stwik quiet. Just my little “wtf” moment for the night that is related to the freight rate talk recently on here...blairandgretchen, 1951 ford, Feedman and 17 others Thank this. -
Or expensive purse my wife has that don't store Sheeeet.1951 ford, Feedman, 4mer trucker and 16 others Thank this. -
Rusted, probably, but still operational.

....I’m just now getting old enough to understand a women’s purse doesn’t hold sheeeet on purpose. It’s a statement.
The man holds the belongings regardless of the size and price tag of her purse....
Or I’m just a #####. Probably that one.1951 ford, Feedman, 4mer trucker and 15 others Thank this. -
