It's usually enough to pay for a room and beer, or room and board, but not going to be enough if you have bills to pay during any extended duration. If there is going g to be an extended amount of time In the shop then they will want to ship you back to the terminal and be put in another truck. They will find another way to get the "broke" truck back after it's fixed, or just sell it where it sits.

They don't/shouldn't want drivers to sit. Some do...

I do think it's designed so you don't starve but keep it low enough to deter people from "breaking down".

    Breakdown is $15 per hour.

Load time is $20 per hour after 1st hour. Usually only takes me 30 minutes most times.

$15.80/hr from start of breakdown. If forced to layover then $150/day

Don't get paid for breakdown. On the other hand, I'm also encouraged to avoid breakdowns, and I hustle off to the shop whenever there is a minor problem to avoid breaking down.

If a major issue is popping up (there usually is warning IF the driver pays attention to his/her equipment), I just nurse the truck to a local to me dealership and head for the home twenty until the truck is fixed.

Haven't been down for more than a simple tire repair in over a year. Did have an alternator quit on the previous truck, but that happened just as I got parked for home time so I replaced it myself the next day. Took me a whole 45 minutes to do, and the company paid me back for the new alternator. Certainly beats sitting at some truck stop or dealership for a week, yes?

$75 a day + motel if it’s going to take more than a couple of hours. Starts as soon as I call it in.

Flats have taken 6. No motel there ;)

At my company its first 4 hours are free, then after 4:01 you get paid $10 an hour up to $100 a day. So if you re in the shop 5 hours then you get $50 because they go back and pay you for the first 4 hours

I'm salaried so the pay doesn't get affected, but my company says anything we do that generates a receipt they want us on duty for it. If it going to be more than a few hours then I'd say use some judgement. Get a bite to eat, shower, etc.

You got paid whatever you had coming pay day, however little or much. When shes in the shop you got paid very little. This is where savings comes into play.
