Oh yeah Wayne, don't go by that loadboard as far as thinking that's what they have to offer. Something like 99% of their loads never see that board, only if there's no trucks available for states so that other companies can pick up the slack. If you run for Eclipse you'll never use that board at all, just get the loads direct.

I remember looking at that board and finding it depressing, something like 16 loads nationally??? I knew that couldn't be right.

yep me and the truck are very comfortable. Didn't idle last night at all, temperature was fine and I just unplugged the inverter. Truck took 107 gallons though when I fueled up. Gonna have to do some figuring. I was full when I left Charlotte.

Very easy edit your "mistakes":biggrin_25525:... Although the "undo history" would make it pretty easy for a DOT man to see just how many mistakes you've made, depending on how computer savvy they are.

And it's $50... not bad at all.

    Hey Pharm,
Since you are working now (congrats BTW!) your dot registration must be complete. how long did it take from the day you filed, to the day the FMCSA said you could start hauling? They say its 5-6 weeks.

so far we haul mostly grain and feed meal ingrediaents in our hoppers. most place are going to want the hoppers dry and i think you will too. stuff is less likly to cake up and get hard in it.also if you hauling fertilizer or minerals it could interact with the moisture causing a chemical reaction. most feed place are not going to worry to much if you hauled another food product before they load like we for example we hauled corn then reloaded with soymeal we don't wash out everytime just beat on the beater bars and used broom to knock product to bottom. now if you are hauling a fertilizer or another mineral then i would wash out before loading a food or feed product. also watch were you clean out. at our local adm if you clean out your hoppers in there parking area before you laod they will ban you from there site. its simply to keep there parking area from being covered with all kinds of stuff. riding with your tarp open is a good way to blow the dust out but i would keep it covered in the rain

The most important thing is that it is not from the day you filed, it is from the day you have insurance AFTER you file. Nothing happens until there is a policy in place. From there it was 3 weeks exactly that I could see it active online, and about 3 more days before I got the notice in the mail. You don't need the mail notice to go get your tags though, they just look it up.

If you don't have a truck in place when you file, you can use the VIN from another truck to get insurance so that process plays out while you're looking for a truck, then when you get the one you want, just get the policy switched over to that truck. :biggrin_25525:

Thanks pharm. My insurance company is in the process of getting it sent over. I signed up with OOIDA you can get the blanket service filing for free when you sign up with them (i was gonna sign up anyway).

I got the PM you sent me about transervices (Im guessing its the same compay you are talking about now) before I call them, do they have loads going in and out of california (northern or southern doesnt matter)? I too looked at the load board and got depressed until i saw your post about it.
    thanks.

I can't tell you about CA. That really may be one exception. When I was asking about what states to get my tags in, the dealer said he didn't remember ever going there. I got it anyway just in case, but I don't think it's a regular running area. Still, every state needs the things we load, so best thing to do is just call and ask.

Welp so now I'm broken down in Louisville, GA... darn clutch slipped again. Pretty aggravating but I managed to get a good ole boy on the phone after a ton of calls. One company wanted to charge me $2 a mile from Macon (115 miles) round trip, so 230 miles and $75 an hour. I was almost about to do it and they clarified the $75 an hour was WHILE they were driving at the $2 a mile as well. If they can follow directions, they're kissing my ##### right now.

At least I'm not stuck til tomorrow like I was going to be.
