Living in Denver and driving those roads daily, here's my warning to you. When you are on 270, you are in Commerce City, they have three spots where they like to park with an unmarked car and use Laser, not radar on you. The minimum fine is $160.00, anything more than 5 mph and they will probably mark the ticket as Mandatory Court Appearance. The Judge(s) are pricks, the only way to describe it. The DA will generally not plea the case down, the judge will read you the riot act, and you will pay court costs. If the D.A. does plead the case down, it will only be the points, you will still pay the original fine. They also despise truckers. Hiring a Lawyer is a minimum $500.

I-25 from Hwy 7 to 270 you go through 4 jurisdictions: Broomfield, Westminster, Northglenn and Thornton. No the signs don't tell you. Between 3 and 6 in the morning, Broomfield and Westminster have better things to do than monitor I-25, unless there is an accident. Northglenn and Thornton both regularly have speed traps setup. I-25 SB from 144th to 112th Bridge is Thornton. They will occasionally sit on the SB on-ramp from 136th Ave. (If you are NB, they sit under the 128th Ave. bridge in the dark, and generally cannot be seen until it's too late). From the 112th Bridge to just So. of 104th is Northglenn, they like to sit on the on-ramp. From the mid point So. of 104th to the exit for 270 is all Thornton/Adams County/State Patrol, Adams County doesn't care, they have too many other things to worry about. State Patrol is generally still sleeping until 5 am (there's actually only 3 Troopers on duty for I-25 from Wyo. to Denver between midnight and 6 am, and one of them has a hangout that he's generally at). On the SB side, Thornton likes to sit on the on-ramp from Thornton parkway, they will generally give you 5 to 7 mph over.

If by luck you get a ticket, just pay it by mail, don't fight it. There are 3 traffic D.A.'s for Thornton, two are female, one is male. The two women will not bargain with a truck ticket, you will pay it the full fine and take the full points. Also, the one has exp. as a trial lawyer and has prosecuted truck accidents, she knows how to read a log book and the green book.

As for I-70, once you merge from 270 to 70, you are in Denver, right now with the construction, there are multiple speed traps on 70. The biggest trap (has been for 20 yrs) is EB 70 at I-225. The two bridge supports, they will generally park behind those supports, backed up tight to them. The speed limit is 55 mph, in good weather they will give 12 to 15 over depending on traffic volume. If the weather is bad, 5 mph over is all they will give. 90% of the time, it's either a blue, white, brown or black unmarked Explorer that hangs out there, and it's active 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. The officers who work it will also check your elog, they have a dedicated email address for you to send it to.

As soon as you go past Chambers, you are now in Aurora, the speed limit recently changed to 65 mph, which pissed off Aurora immensely. It used to be 55, and they had 3 speed trap locations. Typically, they are either at the bottom of the Chambers ramp, or in the median between Tower Rd. and the 75 mph sign. They will often times give 5 mph.

With all the construction going on at 270 and 70, speeding in that area is a very bad idea. The ramps have changed recently and there have been 3 semi rollovers in recent weeks. I predict Commerce City and Denver aggressively enforce that area very soon, if not already.

    Have a nice day.

A witting advisor. The insider. He knows how the local government is going to #### you.... and it doesn't appear to be gently, with butterfly kisses and whispered sweet-nothings.

That's what I call a bear report. The only speeding ticket I ever got was in Waldo Fla on rt.27, by a cop that looked like Waldo, fresh out of bed. That cop was such a d!€/<,when I asked him to give me a seat belt violation instead of the speed ticket, he wrote me that too.

There will be no Vaseline used, they might have some 40 grit sand paper laying around though.

BTW, one of Commerce City's favorite speed traps, they sit in the median, at the end of the center concrete divider of the cloverleaf on 270 @ Vasquez. LIDAR has a 10,000 ft range, from that parking spot, 10,000 ft. is just past the bridge for York Street, he can't see past the bridge. From the end of the on-ramp from York to EB 270 to that spot is 8,756 ft, go ahead, ask me how I know.
