Best truck for LTLs

You'll have a hard time getting all you want and having it profitable . It would be hard to get a straight truck without airbrakes although they are out there . If you find one though it won't meet the requirements of any expedite carrier . You might as well get a cargo van . Getting a carrier to sign you on to run the way you want would be difficult . Unless expediters live in Ohio or Michigan they run all over the country and stay out 3 or 4 weeks at a time . You could get your own authority and find your own loads but it would be difficult to make a profit as low as rates are .
If you want to stay under the 26,000 lb. CDL requirement the largest truck you can get is a class 5 (Dodge/Chevy 5500 , Ford F-550 . )

That wouldn't allow loading and unloading at docks . A lift gate and pallet jack would be a good idea also .

If I was you before buying a truck I would put some calls in to local expedite companies. Ask them what would work for them, having a truck no one wants will only cost dollars. You might want to consider as sprinter. The mpg's is great and you can put a nice bunk in one and still haul two skids.

 

If it's a 2007 Chevy it has a Duramax engine built by DMAX . Once a joint venture by GM and Isuzu , GM bought out Isuzu's share in 2003 . The engine is built in Moraine , Ohio . The Duramax , Allison Automatic is a good combination . I know several hotshotters running them . It's a good truck . You should try to build up a customer base you can bill directly to avoid paying brokerage fees on all loads .
