So about the post: Sorry, just mixed two reports i wrote back in october.
About having money to hire attorney, i just need to know how to start its already been 3 months, i haf a lawyer since october but he seems very busy and i would need help to find better one. If i find some one who can help i don't mind paying him or her, not because of money but because of justice for truckers all not just me. The givernment needs to take action against eastern European people who most likely taking advantages of people who are new to trucking. -
...all i was teying is to deliver my message, it could be a short story but it won't have a full picture, i actually had lot more to say but prefer to not making it worst and make readers tired.
I hope my message will get to as many people as it can, and if anyone is working for a company he doesn't trust better get out and accept less pay than what mafias promess! -
It’s not just Eastern Europeans who are exploiting drivers. There are people from Bangladesh, India and middle eastern countries as well. Not to mention the home grown companies that do it. (Everyone is getting in on it)
In recent years there has been a growing trend where people began to realize that they could get paid out the wazoo by leasing trucks, and hiring drivers on a 1099 status and structuring contracts that are ambiguous. Most drivers fail to pay a fee for an attorney to help them understand the contract. Drivers assume the people leasing trucks are on the up and up. Many are. For example, Hurricane Express is Notorious for exploiting drivers but there isn’t anything illegal about what they’re doing, ultimately it’s the drivers responsibility to prevent himself from being taken advantage of. (Nobody is forcing him or her to sign a contract)
I’ve sent emails to 60 minutes producer Tanya Simon on the rapidly growing business of exploiting truck drivers. I explained to her that this is a story that needs to be told; it’s newsworthy. There seems to be a culture within this industry where it is considered acceptable to rip drivers off (Realistically can it be considered a rip off? ) and any loss on the drivers part is considered “The cost of doing business” which is complete nonsense.
The concern over unscrupulous business practices is nothing new and little can be done to help drivers who refuse to read their contracts.
