I don't know whether to sigh in relief or call the looney bin wagon to come get me ?

 

Meatloaf with spaghetti sauce, turnip greens and cabbage. Looks nasty but really tasty.

 

Can’t hurt to try it for a few years... just in case.

 

Are you thinking pasta style/size meatballs, or bigger? Her's are about the size of a baseball. She also puts onion in them and a tomato sauce over them before baking. She would add the rice as a filler to stretch the meal further.
Make Porcupine Meatballs Just Like Grandma's

 

Fist sized usually.

Funny the link you put- back when we went to the Hancock shaker village and found that old lunch menu in the paper clipping, it had porcupine meatballs. I thought they were made from porcupines!! I never heard of that before with the rice.

If you ask my oldest daughter why Zebra Cakes are so delicious, she will tell you it’s because they are made from real zebras. I may or may not have taught her that.

 

Some information shows the name coming from the rice poking out of the meatball making them look like small porcupines.

 

I saw that. Immediately recalled the clipping. Interesting stuff!
