I'm starting to learn the value of even the tiniest bits of experience and how it adds up the longer you are with a company. I picked up an empty and went home Saturday and am going back out tomorrow morning. When I got home, I took time to open up my trailer and make sure it was dry inside, as my frequent load out from home is from that place up in Smithfield, PA that will reject sketchy trailers in a heartbeat. Sure enough, trailer is wet. Looks like it's leaking somewhere around the nose near the floor. Send the shop and night dispatch messages telling them of the situation. They both tell me to bring it up with the shop and dispatch come Monday. Call dispatch today, and sure enough my load out tomorrow is supposed to be from that place. Call the shop to arrange for repairs, and now I'm set to take it for repair tomorrow morning before heading on up and loading. I knew to do this, and also knew where to tell the shop to send me, because of a previous incident where I brought home a leaky trailer and didn't bother checking it until after I was ready to go out and had received my load information.
