Fellas, it’s been a long month. Y’all know I had to tear it back down and redo the cam bearings (100% my fault). Had to change out all the rockers and shafts cuz 150 miles with no oil left them dang near seized. Got her back together and had a fuel leak. Changed O-rings on the fuel crossover. Still leaked. Finally found a tiny hairline crack. New crossover and it’s fixed. In the middle of all this, I noticed my fan wasn’t freewheeling like it should. Never rebuilt a fan hub/clutch before, but I got a kit and got that done (wasn’t bad at all). While I was doin that I remembered that before the whole broken valve deal, my cruise had quit. No one in town had my 4-wire speed sensor, so I drove to OKC and got one. Got it on and went to test drive it. Backed halfway out the shop door and blew a drive tire. Somebody had dragged their 4” belly hose up to the door and left it laying in the middle. Couldn’t see it in the mirrors. My tire skimmed the fitting just right and the ear opened up and punctured the sidewall. So tires have 20/32” still on em. Of course we don’t have anything that matches up in height, so I had to go to the tire shop.
Now y’all remember this all happened on the heels of the PTO tossing a needle bearing into my transmission back in November.
In the middle of all this I had to get new IFTA stickers, new inspection and sticker, and a physical/medical card.
Supposed to head out on a job this afternoon. I guess we’ll find out if I did it all right this time or not.
Ain’t gonna lie, I’m a little nervous. Lol.beastr123, blairandgretchen, Feedman and 33 others Thank this. -
