I think you are using old and obsolete hardware and probably software too. Pretty much any computer program needs current drivers and software updates to work properly on certain versions of Windows. I think you just have a computer problem there with driver conflicts. You need to be able to connect to the internet somehow to get the support you need. You also need to verify what version of Insite you have and what NEXIQ you have, because there are different ones. To get into this you have to be computer savvy and sort of know what you are doing. If not, I recommend taking this to a computer shop and have to make sure it is working properly with current drivers.

If you are using Windows 10 I can tell you there are quite a few files missing on the Windows side that you need to get Insite up and running. I cannot remember the names of the files, but they were included in the prior versions of Windows. 10 is a real PIA if you are using it. I had to have a buddy of mine figure it out.

Then the Nexiq reader, is it one of the Chinesium knock offs or did you get the real thing for around $1200? The Chinesium Nex units are notorious for not working with certain software, where as the real ones do not have an issue.

 

More than likely an issue, they are notorious for failing to work properly or work and then fail after a few uses. The Inline readers for Cummins, the Chinese ones seem to work as advertised. I have had mine for a few years, used it to reprogram a friends Cummins ECM this past Friday with no issues.
