Started straight backing and offset right to left. Pretty comfortable with the straight back but bombed on the offset. Any tips. Going to watch some videos, any tips and tricks I'd appreciate it.

Dont watch YouTube videos!!!!! You just started you will be fine. Jamie is good he will get you where you need to be.StyxxNC, Farmer54, BullDozer-( and 1 other person Thank this.

What @keen98 said. Stay away from the videos. Too much advice is bad. Picking up bad habits that stick with you long term is way too easy to do in the beginning.StyxxNC and BullDozer-( Thank this.

Speaking of dumb rookie moves, I did one yesterday that I'm glad nobody saw becauinse I'm sure they'd still be laughing about it. Picked up from Essity in Neenah. Neenah has been getting quite a bit of snow. Your friendly Gremlin didn't take this into account when he stood right up next to the back of his trailer as he opened his tails. Gremlin got buried under an avalanche.
Farmer54 and Steelersjunkie Thank this. -
Been there and done that. Y'all know how I feel about Millis. If I didn't love them I wouldn't still be posting. However you can't argue with numbers. Those stupid skirts and tails do nothing. Not only are my trailers naked, the gap between my cab and trailer is bigger than yours. My fuel economy should in theory suck. And yet my mileage is better. F that garbage. More trouble than it's worth.
-
Yeah I hate them too, but to use an overused expression, "it is what it is." Every time I see "Driver didn't close tails. Backed into door." in the accident report I keep hoping that maybe Dan will finally realize that they do more harm than good. Hope springs eternal, right? I don't really mind the skirts except they slightly mess with my perception when backing. Without them, I have straight lines down the sides of the trailer to align with the painted lines or whatever cheater lines I'm using. The skirts throw that askew.
-
Agreed. All I know is my numbers without them are better. And I promise you that I have a much more vested interest in fuel economy than they do. For me it's a matter of survival.

Gotta love road signs. However, anything is better than the crap they got over here in China...i.e. mostly non-existent or downright wrong and dangerous.

Looking for a little help from some old dogs. I'm currently using Howes Diesel
Treat every time I fuel, regardless of temperature. I am obviously following the dosage based on temperature. I will continue to use it even in warm weather to offset the lubricity lost from the ULSD fuel. Although it's a great product, it does nothing for microbial or algae growth in the tanks, filters, and lines. I'm looking for a good product that will serve as a "shock" treatment. Yes, I know I can Google products. But I wanna know what the vets trust. Thanks in advance for your responses. Got any resources @MACK E-6 ?Last edited: Jan 26, 2019

You know who else doesn't have trailer tails? Swift. You'd think, with 16,000+ tractors, if there was any money to be saved by using them, they'd be all over it.Steelersjunkie Thanks this.
