DD15 injectors can be hit or miss as well. I'd get the warranty. I have a used Cascadia that came with 500K warranty and it went in for some DEF line issue. Warranty paid it in full. Just the diagnostic is $300.

Factor it into your financing and get it, you'll regret it if you don't and I'm talking from experience. This aftertreatment garbage is just that, and a crapshoot at best. In 44 years of owning trucks I never believed in warranty until this last one when a mechanic suggested the aftertreatment because as he said " we still don't know what this crap's gonna do ". I've got my money back over 5 times now. Mine was 5 grand when I bought it.

That has been a known issue since the early 90s
The pipe nipple that the filter screws onto MUST be tightened at each filter change to stop the problem.
I was warned about this when I bought my first Detroit in December 1995 by the dealer tech where I bought the truck...buying Two or three lunches for the senior techs and picking their brains pays off big time. Dad was a master journeyman mechanic since 1952 till he passed in 2002 and taught me that the guy in the shop can be your best friend and the tech tips they give are the ones that may or may not make the books.

If you live where it freezes do NOT turn your master switch off within 1/2 of shutting the truck off.
    Why you ask ...
Turn your truck off and listen , you will hear the def pump purge the def out of the lines ,ect .
My buddy put 3 pumps in before I realized what he was doing.
The shop was just happy to take his cash.

True, but I park inside. Only kill the master when I go on holiday.

I personally don’t believe in extra warranties on anything. Usually a dealer ripoff. However given the cost and frequency of emission related problems. I would definitely get it. Just roll it into the pymt. as a cost. I’d also trade it off when expired.

In the last three months of the warranty on my DD15 Freightliner probably did $25,000 worth of work to it. I wouldn't buy an emissions truck, new or used without buying every kind of warranty possible along with it.

the Freightliner extended warranty is transferable and IMHO you will get a good chunk of that back if you sell or trade it while it has time/mileage left on it.
