I thought we were referring to the diaphragm size(s) in the brake can. The applied force through the s cam (on drum brakes) would be greater with the 36 diaphragm, regardless the shoe size?1951 ford, Humblepie, PoleCrusher and 11 others Thank this.

Ha! You just reminded me of a guy that worked in the trailer shop with me when I first started out. Charlie always seemed confused which clamp needed to come off to install a new piggy-back, and he used a torch....it's a wonder nobody got hurt or maimed by this genius thinking back on it.Feedman, BigCam9670, 1951 ford and 17 others Thank this.

I dunno. I thought the 36 was the size of the chamber ?
What I DO know is that I now have 118 new notifications since we started talking about this brake thing.
Which I'm going to go get cut back before it breaks my phone.Feedman, 1951 ford, PoleCrusher and 15 others Thank this. -
LOL that could get ugly. I have a large vise on my welding table that opens up enough to squeeze a piggyback section in there and clamp.it. I cut the clamp and then opened my vise.
If a guy tried that while under a truck or trailer, I could see that ending bad!Last edited: Jan 27, 2019
