This is true, I believe the all time leader was the KT Cummins I think 20psi was max boost on them yet they made good horsepower.

Yeah absolutely, alot of what needs to be considered as far optimum performance when it comes turbo chargers and overall power configurations are turbo map ranges and drive pressure ratios, compression ratios, cam profiles, timing, etc etc...

The engine I was referring to was a stock 12.7 470 16.5:1 CR piston DDECIII. They and some early IV were known for a bronze wrist pin bushing design that and lead to catastrophic failure. They came out with a redesigned piston crown that did not incorporate bronze bushings, therefore eliminating the chance of a wrist pin or piston failure . it wasnt boost or horsepower related is what I was getting at. The pistons were weak from design

Thats very true. There was alot of displacement there.

Well yeah, but come on JD....why be a wuss???

The original T18A turbo map on a KT wasnt very efficient. 20 to 30 was optimal range on the old beast. Change the pump button, slap a HX 82 on and 50 psi boost later now you got a bad machine that will pull a brick shithouse lol
