I have not seen my doctor since 2006. I do not take any BP meds.

BP is always within limits, but SINCE I have to list the BP in the history, they always issue me a 1 year certificate.

It has to be under 140/90 without medication to get a 2 year card . They will ask if you are taking medication .

I was told that with any heart related problems you'd have to have a yearly checkup to drive. I'm on a pacer but doing FAR beyond what was expected of me, thanx to diet and exersize...which also brings down your BP, BTW. It did not, however lower my cholesterol, so I'm now doing meds for it and cutting out some of the cheeses and stuff that causes that. (fats)
I suggest that you DO NOT get on Atenelol, unless you don't mind losing ALL your sex drive and being tired as can be all the time. That may not be universal, but it did that to me. Even had to quit working out while on it, which I usually don't miss.
"Exersize" btw, I define as "activity beyond the level to which you are accustomed". So you don't have to hit the gym, just raise the bar a bit. For some, that's just walking, others may need to trot, and so forth.
You don't USE it, you LOSE it.
